We are looking for a conservator with some curatorial experience to
improve preventative conservation in museums in the North West of
England.

Funded by "Renaissance in the Regions" through the North West's
Collections for the Future Steering Group.  The post-holder will be
expected to increase access, use and understanding of the region's
collections, by strengthening curatorial expertise in collections
care, increasing access to knowledge and resources in collections
care. As a result it will:

    *   diversify and increase the number of people who enjoy and
        learn from the region's collections

    *   work in new ways to develop and transform museum services

    *   deliver direct benefit and support to the development of
        museums staff and volunteers

    *   work collaboratively to deliver the Renaissance agenda

    *   sustain the benefits of Renaissance into the longer term

    *   increase standards with regards to the  museum accreditation
        scheme

The post is based in Preston at the Lancashire Conservation Studios,
which is part of the Lancashire County Museum Service which manages
12 museums and historic sites.  The postholder will be working
beside a team of specialist conservators within this new facility
which has been developed to promote conservation and enhance
facilities for collection care across the North West.
