The Southeastern Library Network (SOLINET) is seeking a
knowledgeable Preservation Services Librarian to join an energetic
team committed to improving the preservation of library and archival
collections in the Southeast.  As part of SOLINET's renowned
Preservation Field Services team, the Preservation Services
Librarian will share their expertise and provide high quality
education, training, consulting, and reference services to support
libraries and archives in planning, implementing, and effectively
managing preservation programs. Through SOLINET, the Preservation
Services Librarian has the opportunity to raise awareness of
preservation, interact with a wide range of organizations with a
variety of preservation needs and issues, provide immediate
assistance in disasters, research and build in-depth knowledge on
preservation trends, and participate in team development and
delivery of innovative preservation services for southeastern
libraries and archives.

SOLINET, a membership organization of libraries and archives in the
Southeast and Caribbean, is a nationally recognized leader in
preservation education and collaborative preservation solutions for
libraries. Preservation Field Services is part of SOLINET's
extensive Educational Services program. The Preservation Services
Librarian will develop in-depth knowledge of members' needs and
preservation trends, design and deliver educational programming
(including web-based and face-to-face classes, hands-on training,
and formal presentations), provide formal and informal preservation
consultations for libraries and archives, write articles for
publications and SOLINET's website, provide preservation information
and reference services, and collaborate with and participate in
local, state, regional, and national preservation organizations.

A successful Preservation Services Librarian will have broad
knowledge of preservation in libraries and/or archives, experience
in designing and delivering training and presentations, excellent
interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, strong
problem-solving skills, the ability to work effectively in a team
environment, and the ability and willingness to travel frequently. A
MLS with two years of specialized preservation education or work
experience is required.
