Salary range +AKM-19,095 - +AKM-25,325, according to experience

Applications are invited for this fixed term appointment to 31 March
2008 within the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical
Monuments of Scotland.

The deadline is 27 April 2007.

The Sir Basil Spence Archive Project aims to catalogue and conserve
the drawings, photographs, manuscripts and personalia that relate to
the life and work of architect Sir Basil Spence (1907-1976), in
order to make them accessible for public study.  The project
includes a programme of education/community workshops, a touring
exhibition and a major exhibition of original material to be held at
the Dean Gallery, Edinburgh in 2007.  The project is delivered in
partnership with the National Galleries of Scotland and The
Lighthouse, Scotland+IBk-s Centre for Architecture Design and the
City.

The paper conservator post is primarily required to undertake
preventive conservation treatments as part of this exciting project,
as well as preparing items required for exhibit by the National
Galleries of Scotland.  A qualification in the conservation of
archives and/or works of art on paper and good communication skills
are essential; experience of working within an archive and
familiarity with IT are advantageous.
