Conservator of Photographic Materials
Atlanta Art Conservation Center (AACC)

The Center seeks a motivated Photograph Conservator to run the newly
created photograph conservation department within a large, well
equipped lab shared by two paintings conservators. Preference will
be given to a  candidate who has experience with current paper
conservation techniques.

Located in Atlanta, Georgia, AACC is a regional center serving
institutional members and private clients in the Southeast. It is
hosted by the High Museum of Art and operated by the Williamstown
Art Conservation Center (WACC), which provides AACC clients and
conservators with access to its full service paper department,
paintings, furniture and objects departments, and analytical
services at its Massachusetts location.

The position requires occasional travel for on-site condition
assessments and consultation. There will be opportunities for
preparing and conducting workshops, teaching graduate students and
supervising interns. The photo conservator will have opportunities
to serve photo collections of WACC member institutions in the
Northeast as well.

The successful candidate should be a graduate of a recognized
conservation training program; preference will be given to
candidates with at least 3-5 years additional experience. The
candidate must demonstrate proficiency in all aspects of
examination, treatment, and collections management for a wide range
of photographic materials. The position requires self sufficiency in
project documentation and communication with clients. In addition to
the ability to work independently, excellent interpersonal skills
and a sense of team spirit are preferred.

Title and salary will be commensurate with experience. AACC offers
excellent benefits plus an annual research stipend of $1000 and 5
research days for professional development.
