Housing panorama photographs

From: Barbara N. Brown <bnbrown>

In preparing for a project to rehouse a large collection of panorama
photographs (which are to be humidified and flattened before each is
(re-)housed), the collection staff and I are interested to learn how
other institutions that large numbers of panorama photographs are
housing and storing these materials.

Specific questions are:

    * Are the prints housed in individual sleeves or folders?

    *   Out of what material?

        If in polyester film/Mylar, did you make these sleeves or
        folders in-house, or did you find a supplier who made (or
        would make) these?

    * Are the housed photographs stored in flat files, or lateral
        files, (or something else)?

Any thoughts or comments, experiences, advice, pro and con, that you
would be willing to share would be appreciated.
