Society of Bookbinders Biennial Competition

From: Randy Silverman <randy.silverman>
Date: Friday, March 9, 2007
The following is submitted for Stuart Brockman and the Society of
Bookbinders.

Following the success of the 2005 Society of Bookbinders
Biennial Competition, entries are invited for the next
competition, which will coincide with the Society's Conference
during the summer of 2007. Entries can be made in one or more of
the four categories listed. Anyone can enter--members and
non-members, whether in the UK or overseas.

Winning entries will be announced at the Society's Biennial
Education and Training Conference which is being held at the
University of York, 9-12 August 2007.

Awards will be presented at the Conference dinner on the evening
of 11 August, to which all winners will be invited. Selected
entries will be exhibited at the conference venue for the
duration, after which they will be further exhibited at regional
venues, including Manchester Central Library and George Bayntun
of Bath. Dates for each of the regional venues are still being
    finalized.

The prizes for this competition will be awarded in the form of
cash, goods or vouchers. Prizes totaling UKP5050 were awarded to
the 16 prizewinners of the 2005 Competition.

All prospective entrants should register their intention to
enter the competition by completing the registration form found
    at

    <URL:http://www.societyofbookbinders.com/events/events_frames.html>

and returning it, together with the appropriate fee, by 1 May
2007. It would assist Society's funds if you were to enclose a
    stamped self-addressed envelope (UK only).

The closing date for the submission of bindings is 1 June 2007.
Work arriving after this date can only be considered for judging
at the organizer's discretion. All UK entries must be sent by
Royal Mail Special Delivery service. Details will be sent with
the acknowledgement of registration. Overseas entries may be
    dispatched by post or carrier.

Entrants who submit work into the competition do so in the
knowledge that if their work is selected for an award, it will
need to be retained by the Society for the traveling exhibition
and will only be returned following the final venue.

All correspondence, including registration and entry forms and
submission of work, should be addressed to:
