Sorlandets Art Museum <URL:http://www.skmu.no/> seeks a conservator
for the Wennesland collection of beat art. Sorlandets Art Museum
(SKMU) is the most important arena for art in the region of southern
Norway.

The college University of Kristiansand (HiA) own a large collection
of beat-art. (The Wennesland collection) Doctor Wennesland from
Kristiansand had his practice in San Francisco in California from
the early 1950. He bought artworks from the artist in San Francisco
in a period from 1950 to 1975. The collection is a European centre
of gravity for the art that is relates to the American
beat-generation.

The collection contains work in different techniques, mostly
Paintings. SKMU has received money to be able to start conservation
of the collection. We have therefore decided to engage a conservator
dedicated to this job.

Job activities will include the following:

    Primary active conservation work: analysis, care, treatments and
    documentation of paintings, all with emphasis on the Wennesland
    collection.

    The position entails carrying out tasks related to exhibition
    concerning the Wennesland collection, loans and magazine
    operations.

Special skills or abilities. We presuppose the conservator to:

    Be familiar with the materials of the artworks in the
    collection, as well as to be creative in developing and
    tailoring work methods.

    Have wide experience from active and preventative conservation
    work.

    Have excellent inter-personal skills and cooperative
    capabilities, yet also the ability to work independently.

    Be responsible, give attention to details, be result-oriented,
    be able to take initiative and organize the work in the most
    instrumentally effectively way.

Minimum qualifications: The applicant should have a degree from a
recognized graduate conservation program, with emphasis on painting,
and relevant practice.

The salary will be in accordance with qualifications.
