Conservator (Paintings)
Dunedin Public Art Gallery
New Zealand

The Dunedin Public Art Gallery is offering an exciting opportunity
for an appropriately qualified person to work with one of the most
significant art collections in Australasia.

As a crucial member of our collection management team, you will
report to the Collection Manager. Your key responsibilities will be
managing painting conservation services and monitoring the condition
of all collection and loan items. At times, you will have the
opportunity to work on material in the collection of the Gallery's
sister institution, the Otago Settlers Museum.

As Conservator you will ensure the professional care and protection
of all art works and artefacts within the Gallery, including
overseeing the installation of exhibitions and monitoring the
conservation requirements for touring exhibitions. You will also
manage the oil painting conservation laboratory and supervise
conservation interns.

You must have a tertiary qualification in painting conservation
(e.g. BSc or Dip Cons.), and you will need proven experience in an
art museum or similar cultural institution, as well as excellent
organisational and research skills.
