Adhesives for baleen

I am evaluating the potential restoration of a late 1960's Alaskan
Inuit built ship model, 2 feet long. The hull and sails are made of
male and female baleen respectively. The hull is canoe shaped and
sewn together along the keel and up the bow and stern. During a
poorly packed shipping attempt, a 4 inch section of the hull broke
off near the bow as well as receiving a 6 inch stress fracture on
its other side.

Does anyone have any experience with adhesives compatible with
baleen? It is now quite brittle and misshapened. Any suggestions
concerning the stress fracture? Would heat application make it
malleable enough to repair?
