Paper Conservator period appointment National Museums of Scotland <URL:http://www.nms.ac.uk> Applications are invited for this period appointment within the Department of Conservation and Analytical Research. Salary on appointment will be between #12,330 and #15,119 depending on qualifications and experience. We are seeking a qualified and experienced conservator to take responsibility for the conservation and preparation of a range of paper artefacts for displays in the new Museum of Scottish Country Life. The museum is due to open by July 2001. The postholder will also work on other projects when required. The post is within the Paper and Textile Conservation section of the Department of Conservation and Analytical Research and will be based in the studios in the Royal Museum in Chambers Street, Edinburgh. The postholder will work alongside the paper conservator employed by the Scottish Museums Council. Applicants should have a degree or recognised academic qualification followed by a recognised qualification in paper conservation and at least 1-2 years relevant experience. They must have a high level of practical skill, be well organised and be able to work effectively and efficiently without supervision.
