Subject: Conference on cultural property protection
The National Conference on Cultural Property Protection As you might know, the Smithsonian's national Conference on Cultural Property Protection, established in 1977, addresses the concerns of all types of cultural and educational institutions in the areas of security, fire protection, safety, facilities management and emergency-disaster planning-preparedness. For 2001, this conference will be held February 4-8, 2001 in Washington, D.C. See details at <URL:http://natconf.si.edu> This Conference makes a concerted effort to reach out to and include the protection concerns of all cultural and public institutions within the scope of its wide-ranging operations; Museums, Libraries, Botanical Gardens and Arboreta, Theme Parks, Open-Air Museums, Zoological Parks--where the public and staff must be protected "from the collection,"--and Historic Houses. In conjunction with this Conference, Museum Services International (MSI) will again organize a Trade Show of products and services which are applicable to the functions of protecting cultural property from various types of threats in these areas.
