Suction table for photographing books

I remember reading *somewhere* about a sort of
suction-table-wedge-lectern assembly used to hold pages (of bound
parchment manuscript books) still and flat for photography.

Does anyone remember any details (or have any suggestions) on this,
please? (Ideally it would not suck all the paint off the other
side.)
