The public is cordially invited to attend the annual Open House of
North Bennet Street School in Boston, Friday, November 3, 2000,
10am-2pm and Saturday, Nov.4, 2000, 10am-3pm. Located in Boston's
historic North End, North Bennet Street school offers full-time
training in fine hand craftsmanship in eight disciplines:
Bookbinding, Cabinet and Furniture Making, Carpentry, Preservation
Carpentry, Jewelry Making and Repair, Locksmithing, Piano
Technology, and Violin Making and Restoration. In addition to the
full-time offerings, workshops are offered weekends and evenings.
The school models classes after traditional apprenticeship training
and is one of the few institutions nationwide devoted exclusively to
training in fine hand craftsmanship.

Visitors will observe work in progress and have the opportunity to
talk directly with students and instructors. This behind-the-scenes
look will interest hobbyists, professionals in the trades, as well
as those exploring new career options. The event provides the ideal
opportunity for those interested in commissioning custom work to
meet established and emerging artisans.

North Bennet Street School is located at 39 North Bennet Street in
the North End of Boston and can be reached by public transportation.
Parking is available at local garages. The school is wheelchair
accessible. Admission to the Open House is free. For more
