Effect of acetic acid on polyester film

The National Library of Australia has recently been reviewing film
preservation strategies as part of its Cellulose Acetate Project.

Little information appears to be available on the effects of
cellulose acetate degradation products on polyester film.  Does
anyone know if any research has been conducted in this area?  Is
there any benefit to be gained from the segregating acetate film
from polyester film in controlled storage conditions?
