Kate Duffy has been hired by the Williamstown Art Conservation
Center (WACC) to head its Department of Analytical Services.  The
department of analytical services at Williamstown provides a range
of services, including analysis using optical microscopy, scanning
electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, and Fourier transform
infrared microspectroscopy.

Duffy was previously Associate Museum Scientist at Winterthur Museum
and Gardens in Winterthur, Delaware, where she worked from 1995.  A
graduate of Hood College with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry,
Duffy received her M.S. degree in Chemistry from Tufts University.
She served for two years as an advanced-level science intern at the
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and for two years as a science research
fellow at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

In addition to treatment-related analysis for WACC conservators,
WACC analytical provides services to outside clients on a sliding
scale, beginning with $68 per hour for non-profit member
institutions.
