Congreso TICCIH-Chile 2001 Third Latin American Meeting on the Recovery and Preservation of the Industrial Heritage Santiago, Chile September 13 to 16, 2001 The Third Latin American Meeting to be held in Santiago, Chile, will be a continuation of the meetings organized in Puebla, Mexico and La Habana, Cuba, and a contribution to the efforts already set into motion in these prior gatherings, i.e. a reflection on the value of the Industrial Heritage that integrates the experience and development of the European and North American countries to the discussion. The Santiago meeting will focus on how to take advantage of the Industrial Heritage for tourist and didactic purposes. The organizers of the meeting would be very pleased to receive professionals and students from Latin America, Europe and North America, and look forward to welcome all of them. Organizer: Chilean Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage, TICCIH-Chile. Headquarters: Centro Cultural de Espana, Santiago, Chile. The Meeting aims at facilitating the exchange of experiences among experts, professors and students interested in these matters, and to update the current know-how on the recovery and preservation of the industrial heritage. The encounter will stress the relevance of the industrial heritage for the cultural, economic, and technical activities in Latin America. The importance of the industrial heritage for the development of tourism and education will be one of the key topics in the discussion. The following subjects will be at the core of the discussion and reflection in the meeting: * Industrial Heritage: Frame of References. New Approaches * Industrial Heritage: Inventory and Recording. * Industrial Heritage: Recovery, Conservation, and Recycling. Case Studies and Experiences. * Industrial Heritage and Education. * Industrial Heritage and Tourism. Official Languages: Spanish and English. The Meeting is oriented to architects, urbanists, engineers, historians, archaeologists, sociologists, and museologists. We invite all students, academics and professionals interested in the industrial heritage to join the meeting. The meeting would gather 120 to 160 American and European experts.
