Subject: Furniture study trip
The Wooden Artifacts Group (WAG) of the American Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (AIC) is sponsoring a furniture study trip to France in the spring of 2001 for a group of mid-career conservators, curators, students, and furniture makers. The 18-day itinerary will include visits to repositories of French furniture from the 17th century to the modern age, including those normally not open to the public. Thanks to a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, $2,600 of the projected $3,750 cost (for airfare, airport transfers, hotels, and ground transportation) will be awarded to each participant. Two qualifying conservation graduate students will receive an additional $400. (Individuals will be responsible for their own meals and incidental expenses.) French language fluency is desirable but not required. Applications must be received by September 29.
