Conservator (1 position)

An experienced conservator is needed to work on the British
Library's Oriental India Office photographic album collection. The
appointment will be for three years and the successful candidate
will be based at Bloomsbury in London.

Primarily the post holder will be responsible for the repair of
damaged albums and re-housing of historical photographs.

Applicants must have experience in conservation of photographs and
must be able to work with minimum supervision.

Salary: UKP15,548 - UKP19,435. Fixed term appointment

Conservator (1 position)

The British Library's Manuscript Collections form the national
repository of manuscripts, private papers and archives, mostly in
Western European languages. They contain material of outstanding
research importance for all periods, countries and disciplines. The
British Library has a vacancy for a conservator, working in one of
the St. Pancras studios. Working with a team of four people, you
will be involved in the handling of western manuscripts, mainly in
the flat sheet format.

Applicants need to have a formal qualification in paper conservation
and they must have at least five years of experience working in
paper conservation, preferably with manuscripts, either in book or
archive formats. Applicants without formal qualifications may be
considered if they can verify they have the required experience.
Applicants must be able to work under broad supervision.

Salary: UKP15,548 - UKP19,435

Conservator (3 positions)

The British Library has vacancies for three Conservators working at
its Bloomsbury (book conservation), Colindale (newspapers) and
St.Pancras ( manuscripts archives ) studios. Each studio covers a
specific range of treatments to conserve paper based objects. The
variety of objects treated is limited in each studio. Successful
candidates must be willing to undergo a structured training
programme to enable them to become proficient in all basic types of
work undertaken by the relevant studio.

Applicants need to have a formal qualification in conservation or
bookbinding. Alternatively they should have relevant experience.

Salary: UKP12,438 - UKP15,548
