Textile Conservators
The Textile Conservation Centre
University of Southampton

We need additional Textile Conservators to work in the Centre's
Conservation Services Department at our purpose-designed building on
the University of Southampton's Winchester School of Art campus. To
join the team, you must work to a consistently high standard, whilst
completing work to deadline and within estimate. A successful track
record in project management is therefore an asset. Our
conservation projects range from banners and tapestries to costume
and archaeological textiles. You should be an excellent communicator
and team worker with a wide range of conservation experience and
interests. We encourage specialisms, such as costume, tapestries and
archaeological textiles, but you must retain the flexibility to
tackle any project. It is an exciting time to be part of the
Textile Conservation Centre, as the many benefits of working in our
new building and with University colleagues begin to unfold. If you
are a trained, experienced Textile Conservator, join us and help us
continue to develop our future. As part of the University, unique
opportunities exist to develop research interests. We are ideally
seeking 1 full time and 1 half time conservator. Benefits of
working for the University include an incremental pay structure and
an excellent pension scheme. For an informal discussion about the
post you are welcome to telephone Amber Rowe, the Centre's Head of
Conservation Services on: +44 2380 597116. Salary in the range:
UKP16,775 - UKP25,213 per annum. Academically-Related Grade 1/2 (pay
award pending).
