Subject: CD on safeguarding documentary heritage
Mogens Koch, from Denmark is visiting here and he brought word that there is a CD available from UNESCO called Safeguarding Our Documentary Heritage. It includes photographs and motion picture film. Mogens was involved in the photographing of samples. These come up as thumbnails that you can click on to get more information. You can see what deteriorating paper (from acidity) looks like, for example. The CD is free from UNESCO. They have a working version on-line at this site, although you need the newest version of Shockwave. Here are the sites: <URL:http://www.unesco.org/webworld/mdm/> This is for the overlying project called "Memory of the World Programme". "Safeguarding..." is a subset at <URL:http://webworld.unesco.org/safeguarding/en/> It's also available in French. The project is a joint one between UNESCO, Ministere de la Culture et de la Communication (France), and IFLA PAC. The CD is available free of charge from UNESCO and ordering information is included at the above site.
