Cultural History Conservator Museum of Natural History and Archaeology (Vitenskapsmuseet) Norwegian University of Science and Technology The Institute of Archaeology and Cultural History, Vitenskapsmuseet is seeking to fill a permanent, full-time contract position for an experienced conservator of cultural history materials. The post is with the Institute's Conservation Laboratory and encompasses collections care responsibility for the Institute's collections and galleries of church art, cultural history and ethnography. Responsibilities with regard to these collections concentrate on conservation, with emphasis on polychromy, and monitoring and control of climates in the galleries and stores. The post will also entail contract work for other museums and institutions. Participating in other institutional activities such as lecturing and supervising students in the preservation and conservation of cultural history materials may also be required of the incumbent. The position is open to graduates in painting or cultural history conservation from a recognised conservation training programme. The successful candidate is expected to be able to work independently, demonstrate initiative and work well with laboratory staff and museum personnel. Applicants with experience in polychrome conservation and experience relevant to the post's areas of responsibility will be given priority. The current salary range is 227,300 - 256,400 NOK.
