The Library of Congress is seeking to hire one phased conservator,
GS-7 (full time, NTE one year) and one phased conservator GS-5 or
GS-7 (20 hours/week, NTE 2 years) to perform a variety of
conservation responsibilities assisting staff with work requiring
well developed manual dexterity and knowledge of the physical
characteristics of conservation materials.  Tasks may include dry
cleaning, mending, humidification, adhesive removal, flattening
works on paper, encapsulation, constructing rare book boxes and
portfolios, cutting and constructing standard and non-standard
matting packages, and aqueous treatment of moderately rare
materials.  Both positions are promotional to GS-9.
