IPC Librarians' Course Institute of Paper Conservation Meeting September 19, 2000 Taylor Institution St Giles, Oxford OX1 3NA Tutor: Caroline Bendix, freelance library conservator, advisor to the National Trust and consultant to English Heritage. A one-day course aimed at librarians and curators. The day will concentrate on book-related topics but will embrace archive-related problems as well. Subjects covered will include book structures, environmental factors and their control, storage and display, protective measures, safe handling and guidelines for readers, what damages books, the importance of preventive conservation, and basic salvage requirements. Delegates will be encouraged to discuss and handle objects during the day. Cost: UKP75. The course is designed for a maximum of 30 people, so please apply early to ensure a place.
