Identifying wood

I could use some help in the identification/nomenclature of the
wood located at the following URL's

The subject object in question is a  Dutch reproduction desk,
unfinished. The wood in question is dark brown (when wet) and has
regular/uniform  graining that resembles rosewood in some respects.
The  name used by local Sri Lankian for this wood (sounds like)
"Nadoune". If anyone can elaborate with any info regarding this wood
please feel free to contact me.
