Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum invites applications for a
full-time position for an Objects Conservator,  starting Autumn of
2000. Responsibilities include the examination, study and treatment
of a variety of artifacts including painted wood and terra cotta
sculpture, decorative iron, embossed leather, painted furniture,
stone sculpture, and others.  The successful candidate will be able
to write and communicate effectively, work independently, and
participate in all activities of the conservation department.
Applicants should have a graduate degree or the equivalent with a
minimum of two additional years of post-graduate experience in
conservation treatment of a variety of materials.  Applicants should
also be able to discern a full range of colors, carry a weight of 40
lbs. and work comfortably on scaffolding.

The salary for the full-time position is competitive and will be
commensurate with experience; the Gardner Museum offers a generous
benefits package including health insurance.  Travel to one
conference per year will be supported.
