Preservation Services has a unique opportunity for a conservator to
work on the 18th-century Ipswich House, which is a two story and
attic timber frame structure.  The house consists of a ca. 1700
single room attached to a ca. 1760 two room plan with central stairs
and chimney.  The house must be conserved and rebuilt for a Museum
exhibition to open in May 2001.  This position is part-time, with an
intermittent schedule, from August 2000-June 2001, at the IS-12
salary level $51,204 (full-time annual salary will be pro-rated for
part-time position). Successful applicants must have demonstrated
experience in the following areas:

    *   Knowledge of and experience with architectural conservation
        practices, particularly of timber frame structures.

    *   Knowledge of materials science and chemistry as related to
        the preservation/conservation of architecture, specifically
        wood structures.

    *   Ability to work flexibly within a team environment to meet
        exhibit project goals.
