Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4 pm
Evenings and Saturdays as required.
Schedule subject to change.
Salary: $34,055

General Description: Under the supervision of the Head of the
Goldsmith Conservation Laboratory or designate, performs treatment
and other duties as part of the treatment programs of the Goldsmith
Conservation Laboratory.  Performs conservation treatment for a wide
range of library materials, including material from the general
collections and significant artifactual or "rare" materials.  Duties
include fabrication of protective enclosures, archival processing,
rehousing, and treatment; collections storage and handling
operations, collection maintenance repairs and rebinding operations;
encapsulation, reformatting, aqueous and non-aqueous treatment
activities.  May be required to work with computers in recording
treatment operations and in collection surveying.  May participate
in training of new staff and assist in developing specifications and
procedures for treatment.  May coordinate treatment projects or
other activities of the lab as directed by senior conservator staff.
Assists in general administrative and lab maintenance duties of the
conservation lab.  Performs related duties as required.

Eligibility Requirements: Master's degree from an accredited
professional conservator training program and professional
experience in library and archival conservation treatment
activities, or an equivalent combination of education, training and
experience. Demonstrated in-depth working knowledge of conservation
theory and techniques, with satisfactory completion of courses in
organic, paper, and conservation chemistry.  Demonstrated knowledge
of the diverse preservation problems of a large research library and
successfully demonstrated experience in a production- oriented
conservation treatment facility highly preferred.
