Amate

The following is posted on behalf of Manuela Reikow-Rauchle

    Does anyone have experiences with the material "Amate" and how to
    humidify it, wash it, mend tears and fill in losses? What kind
    of glue is the best to use for mending tears or filling in
    losses and with which material (e.g. Japanese Paper) should
    these works be done?

    What if there are flaking colors on it or a priming with color
    on it? Can the colors be consolidated and if so, with which
    consolidating solution is it possible to do?

    Any information about this topic will be welcome and useful and
    if possible any bibliographical references.
