Schedule: Hours of work are 8:30 am-5 pm, 7 1/2 hours daily, 37 1/2
hours weekly

Status: Temporary regular, full-time positions (two) for one year
starting Fall, 2000; positions are available in the following
specialty labs: archaeology, textiles, upholstery, paper, metals,
architectural materials, furniture, and preventive conservation.

Duties: Works under the supervision of the conservator to assist in:

    *   carrying out examinations
    *   preparing treatment proposals, written and photographic
    *   performing treatments and writing final reports
    *   conducting research and receiving training on the treatment
        methods for artifacts


    Must be a graduate of a recognized graduate training program and
    have experience working with historic collections and/or
    archaeological artifacts

    Knowledge of material and techniques used in the manufacture of
    17th through early 19th century objects

    Experience in research, in written and photographic
    documentation and treatment procedures

    Experience with survey procedures and computers

    Manual dexterity required to handle artifact collections

    Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Ability to work as part of a team

    Must be U.S. citizen or legally eligible (work visa) to work in
    the United States

Stipend: $23,000 Plus benefits; $1,500 travel allowance
