Objects Conservator Minnesota Historical Society The Minnesota Historical Society is seeking candidates for the position of Object Conservator to carry out treatment on a wide variety of objects. This is a full time position renewable each June 30th. Duties include: treatment ranging from basic stabilization to full physical and chemical procedures; collaboration with conservators, curators and exhibits staff to develop appropriate housings and exhibit mounts; carrying out re-housing of objects; participation in the formulation of procedures, standards, and policies. This position will initially focus on objects in the Society's Alexander Ramsey House historic site, but it will encompass objects from the Society's other collections as well. The qualifications for this position are normally acquired through graduation from an accredited conservation program and work experience or an equivalent in experience in objects conservation. Qualified candidates should have knowledge of conservation theory, chemistry, and practice for objects collections, and also of the materials used in conservation treatments, exhibit, and storage of objects.
