Subject: Seminar on disasters
SSCR Perth Flood Seminar Scottish Society for Conservation and Restoration Perth Flood Seminar: Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining Perth Museum and Art Gallery George Street, Perth, Scotland June 7 2000 There can be few conservators working in Scotland who have not had some contact with the objects and works of art damaged by the Perth flood of 1993 at Perth museum and the surrounding buildings. Now, as the last of the work is finally completed, it is clear that this major disaster has had at least one positive outcome: the creation of a wealth of invaluable experience in dealing with water damage. SSCR invites all those involved in caring for collections to benefit from this knowledge. All delegates will receive a copy of a publication prepared in conjunction with the seminar, containing not only papers presented on the day but also further contributions from other conservators involved in the treatment of Perth's flooded collections. Speakers: Susan Payne, Perth museum and Art gallery; Donald Forbes, National Galleries of Scotland; Graciela Ainsworth, Sculpture Conservation; Claire Meredith, Conservation Studio, Hopetoun House; Vanessa Charles, Dundee University Library Conservation Unit; Amanda Clydesdale, AOC Scotland Ltd.; Derek Halliday, Gilder; Chris Harvey, Paper & Photographic Conservator. There will be a panel comprising of speakers and Perth museum staff inviting questions and discussion from delegates at the end of the morning and afternoon sessions.
