Monuments Conservation Internships
Summer 2000

The City Parks Foundation Monuments Conservation Program and New
York City Parks & Recreation, Art & Antiquities, seek qualified
candidates for the Summer 2000 Field Season (June through August).

These paid internships will include sculpture conservation training,
hands-on monuments restoration and maintenance, photo-documentation,
condition assessments, reporting on findings and related activities.
Participants will gain experience in procedures ranging from bronze
corrosion removal, cleaning and patination to stone cleaning and
masonry repair.

The City Parks Foundation Monuments Conservation Program conserves
and maintains public works of art citywide.  Program participants
will gain a knowledge of the breadth of the public sculpture
collection, its history and conservation needs.

Candidates with a background in sculpture, objects conservation, or
historic preservation preferred.
