Conservator with Experience in the Middle- east The Finnish Jabal Haroun Project, an archaeological investigation of a Byzantine monastery near Petra, Jordan, would like to get in touch with a professional and experienced conservator for the purpose of discussing potential collaboration. The following qualifications are expected: At least 10 years in conservation including at least 5 years of active work in archaeological conservation, most preferably in a Near Eastern country. Considerable expertise in consolidation, conservation and protection of architectural monuments. This includes the experience in strengthening and replacing sandstone blocks in walls, protection of extant walls, preparation of new binding mortars and consolidation of wall plaster. Good knowledge and practical experience in consolidation and conservation of mosaic floors. Basic knowledge of conservation of archaeological artefacts ( metals, glass, ceramics). Ability and willingness to carry out the on-site conservation training for two conservation students. Ability to live for two summer months in simple ( camp-like) and demanding conditions, and in hot climate of the Near East.
