Request for Proposal
Book Revision

The Canadian Council of Archives Preservation Committee (CCA-PC) is
seeking the services of an individual on contract to revise, edit
and expand the CCA publication Basic Conservation of Archival
Materials : A Guide, originally published in 1990.  This contract
will be awarded to an individual with demonstrated superior writing
and editing skills plus extensive knowledge of the preservation of
archival materials.

The project includes general revisions and corrections throughout
the book including updates to the bibliographic listings, update of
technical information, and revision of the table of contents and
index.  The project also includes updating and expanding existing
chapters as required to include new information.  New chapters will
also be written to address newer media in more depth and the new and
emerging technologies not covered in the first edition, such as
digital imaging.

A draft manuscript should be submitted to the CCA-PC  in Microsoft
Word 97 or Wordperfect 8 format for review, followed by a final
manuscript  in Microsoft Word 97 or Wordperfect 8 format with any
corrections requested by the CCA-PC.  Copy editing and French
translation will not be a requirement of this contract.

All interested individuals are invited to submit a written proposal
for this project including an outline of the required revisions, a
timeline for completion of the project, a schedule of required fees,
and a resume including 3 references with a description of prior
relevant experience. The proposal should include contact information

Deadline to submit proposals:
Closing date for submission of proposals is January 28, 2000.

The CCA-PC reserves the right to alter the closing date to receive
proposals or to cancel this RFP at any time without liability, cost,
or penalty to the CCA.
