Heritage Mycology - Managing the Health of our Heritage
Liverpool, UK 28th April 2000
In association with International Symposium on Tropical Mycology
April 25th - 29th 2000

The aim of the conference is to examine the relationship between
fungi and our cultural heritage.  The conference will assist in the
development of multidisciplinary solutions to dealing with the
problems caused by fungi in the built environment and on historical

The conference will address:

    a.  diagnostic methods for evaluating the effects of fungi on
        our heritage;

    b.  the developments of new methods for treating fungi and their
        effects; and

    c.  environmental control.

The conference will focus on developing a better knowledge base for
practitioners in conservation.  This will be achieved by bringing
together experts in the conservation of a range of different types
of heritage artefact all of which are susceptible to the effects of
fungi.  The applicability of new diagnostic and/or treatment methods
from one field will become apparent.

The conference proceedings will be edited by Dr Jagjit Singh and Dr
John Palfreyman.


The programme include presentations from keynote speakers, followed
by general discussions.  Main topics will include:

    The Built Environment
    Historic artefacts and archives
    Diagnosis and Control
    Historic Ships
