Weights

Suede-covered weights are used regularly by architects and others
who need to keep large, normally rolled-up, drawings flat.  The
weights are available at most art supply stores, certainly at
architectural supply stores (like Arche on Jackson Street here in
San Francisco)--probably also available by mail order or the
internet.  Of course, you may need to cover them with pelon and/or
paper to get the surface protection you want.
