Yale Center for British Art

The Paper Conservation Laboratory at the Yale Center for British Art
is offering a year-long fellowship with the possibility of annual
renewal for a maximum of three years.  This fellowship is sponsored
by the Paul Mellon Centre in London.

Candidates must have a master's degree in Conservation or equivalent
experience.  Candidates must have graduated with distinction and
shown both research and technical capacity of the highest order. The
Fellow will work on important collections of sixteenth through
twentieth century works of art on paper at the Yale Center for
British Art under the supervision of staff conservators.

The fellowship may include:  examination and condition reports;
treatment proposals and documentation; practical treatment of works
from the Museum's collection; involvement in conservation matters
that pertain to exhibitions and education-related activities.

The Fellow will undertake a research project to be shared with the
museum, conservation and scholarly communities.  Research facilities
at the Museums and University will be accessible to the Fellow.

The fellowship starts at $28,000.  In addition, Yale University
health benefits are offered.

The fellowship starts as soon as is convenient for both parties.

Written applications should include:  transcripts of undergraduate
and graduate courses of study (unofficial copies are acceptable); a
resume that includes publications and lectures; a short description
of candidate's interests; a statement of intent in applying for the
fellowship; names and addresses of two references familiar with
candidate's work.
