Subject: Delrin
I was wondering if anyone on the DistList has had any experience, positive or negative, with using Delrin (acetal homopolymer) in close proximity with museum objects. I've conducted Oddy tests on Delrin, which seem to indicate that delrin is suitable for permanent use, but there is some concern over information within the MSDS for Delrin that indicates, in the presence of strong acids and bases, and under extreme temperature (above 230 degrees C), Delrin will emit formaldehyde.
