Textile Conservators
Historic Royal Palaces

The Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) house a collection of large scale
textiles comprising tapestries, state beds, furnishings and the
Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection.

HRP is looking for several textile conservators, with proven
training and practical experience, to join the team of 13 based at
Hampton Court Palace.

You will be undertaking practical conservation treatments under the
direction of Section Managers, and must be capable of providing and
assessing treatment options within a variety of contexts. You must
be a good organiser and capable of managing and delivering projects
within deadline and budget. All the Studios' work is supported by a
conservation scientist and a technician, and you will need to
incorporate their work with yours. Accurate record keeping is
vital.

Much of the work is carried out in small teams, and an ability to
work closely with and sometimes manage others is essential. Self
motivation, a lively interest in the work, responsibility and humour
are also ideal ingredients for this role.
