Software for designing protective cushions

If you are involved in the packing of fragile items for shipment,
the latest version of PadCAD (a computer program for protective
cushion design) is now available from the Canadian Conservation
Institute and a free 30 day version of the software can be
downloaded from the CCI web site <URL:http://www.cci-icc.gc.ca/>.
PadCAD is easy to use and incorporates cushion performance data for
20 different materials. Final solutions are provided for all sides
of three-dimensional objects. Users can choose from 10 pre-defined
cushion geometry options or they can specify their own. The program
also generates a material cut-list for fabricating the cushioning
system and supplies additional information such as total package
weight, probable handling methods and the thermal half-time of the
package. PadCAD is available for Windows 3.1 or Windows 95/98/NT
operating systems. It requires 15Mb of hard disk space, 8 meg of RAM
and a display resolution of 800 x 600 (24 bit). To access the PadCAD
download page, look for "What's New" on the CCI web site. If you
have any questions or comments on the software, you may contact CCI
<cci-icc_padcad [at] pch__gc__ca>.
