Subject: British Museum
On Thursday 25th Nov 99 the BBC announced that 90 curatorial posts at the British Museum have been made redundant. Does anyone have more details on these cuts? Does anyone know what the effect will be on the conservation department? Ironically, a few days earlier Dr Robert Anderson had been interviewed on the BBC proclaiming the excellent standards within the BM. What steps are being taken to salvage the huge loss of knowledge, experience and skill which such a massive cut must represent ?
