An opportunity has arisen for an internship in archive conservation,
as part of the Dorset Parish Records Preservation Project. This is a
twelve month contract offering training in all aspects of the
project work including: conservation treatment of 17th-19th century
paper and parchment manuscripts, early manuscript bindings and
architectural drawings; archival packaging; microfilm production and
processing. The Dorset Archive Conservation Unit is a well equipped,
state-of-the-art facility, following modern ethical procedures, and
provides an excellent opportunity for professional development.

The successful applicant will be offered the chance to achieve
significant milestones towards conservation accreditation, following
nationally recognised standards. We require a motivated and
enthusiastic person with demonstrable practical craft, arts or
graphics skills, a sound grasp of heritage conservation ethics and
the desire to contribute to the work of a highly professional team.
A graduate-level or post-graduate qualification in the conservation
field is desirable.
