Guidelines for the Conservation of Leather and Parchment Bookbindings

It may interest many users of this medium to know that an English
version of the 'Richtlijnen voor de Conservering van Leren en
Perkamenten Boekbanden'  is now available on the web site of the
Koninklijke Bibliotheek

These 'Guidelines for the Conservation of Leather and Parchment
Bookbindings' were first published in Dutch in 1995, and contain an
almost complete information package on the history and manufacture
of leather and parchment, its use as a covering material for books,
degradation problems and conservation procedures. It also contains a
wealth of photographic illustrations (in colour).
