Conservation Scientist 2 year fixed term contract National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside 15,975 UKP National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside (NMGM) is responsible for the management of 8 institutions containing outstanding collections of national importance in the areas of art, history and science. The Conservation Scientist is based in the heart of Liverpool, at the Conservation Centre which was European Museum of the Year in 1998. In support of the HLF funded NMGM 2001 project, we are seeking a scientist to provide scientific advice to conservators, and to maintain the analytical equipment and laboratory, for a two year period. The successful candidate will respond to analysis requests from conservators and curators, to study objects from the collections, and to research new conservation materials and techniques. A degree in a relevant scientific subject is essential, together with at least 3 years postgraduate experience in analytical research, preferably relating to museum collections or conservation.
