Fall Meeting
The Redline Tour: Shopping Boston for Conservation Supplies
Friday, October 22, 1999

Have you ever dreamed of venturing into Boston to pick up that
special brush or handmade paper but were afraid you'd be lost in the
city? The Fall meeting of the ACRL New England
Preservation/Conservation Interest Group is just for you. Under the
guidance of experienced travelers we will journey on the MTA Redline
stopping and shopping along the way. Space is limited so reserve
now.

Places we'll go: Pearl (great for brushes and obscure small tools),
Rugg Road (specialty papers), Harcourt Bindery (book cloth and
papers), Burmen Leather (leather tools), and Paper Source (specialty
papers). And if this weren't enough Sam Ellenport at Harcourt
Bindery will speak to the group about his Japanese bookbinding
cloths, newly imported papers, and the Griffin Mills Hand-made
Papers that he will carry. Amy Madanick of Rugg Road Papers will
guide you through their wide range of decorative and bookbinding
papers from around the world.

What you'll need:
Approximately $6.00 to purchase MTA tokens.
    Comfortable walking shoes.
Lunch on your own (a list of restaurants will be given out)

Our Guides:
    Nancy Schrock
    Chief Collections Conservator
    Harvard College Library

    Heather Caldwell
    Head of Preservation
    MIT

    Beth Doyle
    Contract Conservator
    Harvard College Library

Meet between 9:30 and 10:00 at Au Bon Pain outside the inbound exit
from the Kendall Stop on the Red Line, across Main Street from the
Marriott Hotel and the Coop. The entire tour will last about 3
hours not including lunch. Tour guides will take you to each store
listed and back to Kendall Square (but by then you'll be an old
hand!).

Registration: Space is limited to the first twenty four registrants
so please RSVP by October 19 to:
