Rubberbands and microfilm

In answer to Sue Dunlap's query about protecting reeled Microfilm,
many collections prefer to use archival quality 'button and string'
ties for this purpose, the ties can be written upon for labelling
purposes too using suitable marking products.

It is important to ensure the quality of the wrapper, it needs
amongst other things to be lint-free, lignin free and of course
sulphur free and to fit the size of film sufficiently. We
manufacture a variety of versions (buffered, non-buffered and new
MicroChamber) and in sizes for both
16 and 35 mm size film and samples are available from our
plants in Oxford, England & Springfield, USA.
