Subject: Courses on Book Conservation
Short courses in Book Conservation and related area West Dean College West Dean College is offering a series of short courses in Book Conservation and related areas, available from Spring 2000. Using the excellent workshop facilities available in the Book Conservation department, the courses will offer book and paper conservators, and other professionals, the chance to work with leading practitioners in the field, combining practice at the bench with discussion and presentations. The courses will vary in length but average about one week, making them accessible to conservators in-post who wish to continue their professional development. It is hoped that bursaries will be available. One of the first courses in the series will be Papermaking for Book and Paper Conservators, run by Peter Bower from May 30th - June 2nd 2000. The course will include practical papermaking, examination of papers, and an exploration of the requirements of the paper historian and how these can affect the work of the paper or book conservator.
