Electronic media in books

From: Regina A. Sinclair <regina-sinclair>
Date: Saturday, August 21, 1999
We at The University of Iowa Libraries are currently reviewing
our practice of separating media (cd-rom, diskette, etc.) included
with books at the point of acquisition. The opinions of the limited
number of colleagues whom I've consulted are about equally divided.
One group views not handling media separately as an invitation to
theft while other sees doing so as an affront to user access.

Please share with me your views on this subject as well as how
the challenge of accompanying media is addressed in your library.

We truly are in the process of weighing our options. Thus I
will appreciate hearing from you as soon as possible. Thanks,
