Subject: UKIC trip to United States
This is a message for UK conservators: The UKIC (United Kingdom Institute for Conservation) Furniture Section is planning a visit to Pebbles Island Resource Center, Waterford, NY, USA. A kind offer has been made by one of the participants at the Modern Materials Conference held at the NMGM Conservation Centre, Liverpool, to host a visit at the Pebbles Island Resource Center furniture Studio in Waterford, NY. In addition to a furniture and wooden objects section, the centre also includes paper, textiles, general objects and painting conservation laboratories. With contacts in various local institutions in this area of the USA, it may also be possible to visit the laboratories of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Winterthur Museum and Conservation Center in Delaware and a private conservation studio in Boston. In order to fulfil such a programme it would be necessary to organize a 7 days visit to be held in Spring 2000 (last week in March). Before replying to our potential host and organizing an initial itinerary, we would like to receive as broad an indication as possible as to the interest in this project. A prompt response to this proposal would be appreciated to enable us to arrange the most advantageous deal for interested parties.
