Floor coverings

On the question of new flooring, vinyl tile floorings are what we
usually recommend to clients.  (I think the usual term is VCF =
vinyl composition flooring)  The most common cause of off-gassing in
flooring is plasticizers, so the most brittle materials will be the
best.  In addition, tiles that look like light-colored marble will
have the advantage of being loaded with calcium carbonate.  Since
light colors are best in rooms that need to be kept clean and well
lit using as low light levels as possible, this is not a difficulty.
